“There is one who scatters yet increases more;
And there is one who withholds more than is right, but it leads to poverty.
And he who waters will also be watered himself.
Proverbs 11: 24, 25
Many of us have heard that it is better to give than to receive. For there is a pleasure and a peace that comes with giving and knowing you are helping someone else. Proverbs is considered the book of wisdom that is full of wise directives that will bring us peace in our lives even through trials.
These verses of wisdom are yet another reminder that if we focus on giving, helping and uplifting others, oh how we will experience increase. This may seem contradictory to some, but just like a farmer planting seed in a field, the more he plants (releases) the seed to the ground, he yields a larger crop (return) on his giving. In order for things to grow, our relationships, finances, and physical bodies, we have to give them time, attention and care, even though we don’t know what the return is going to be. However, if we take our focus off of what our return perceivably should be, we are often presently surprised that the yield is much more than we expected.
Many times, when we speak of giving in the church, most people automatically assume it’s in regards to tithes, offerings and other tangible goods (food and clothing). But giving can come from your time and energy along with uplifting words and studying GOD’s word with others. This is the type of giving that produces increase and growth beyond your deepest desires.
Christ gave his life for us and look how we have grown in love, wisdom and in a relationship with the Father and we have experienced an increase that we never imagined. When Christ is truly an exemplary to you, and you give according to GOD’s word, you will grow exponentially in every area of your life.
